Infusion Therapy

As part of Chartwell's infusion therapy service, our nurses train patients (or their family members) in IV administration and then monitor their progress. We also prepare and deliver the prescribed pharmaceuticals and equipment throughout the term of care.


Therapies
  • Antibiotics (for patients with osteomyelitis, pneumonia, cellulites, bacterial arthritis, endocarditis, HIV/AIDS-related opportunistic infections, sepsis, Lyme Disease, urinary tract infection, cystic fibrosis, pelvic inflammatory disease)
  • Antivirals/antifungals
  • Total parenteral nutrition (for patients with Crohn's disease, short bowel syndrome/dumping syndrome, stomach cancer, fistula, acute pancreatitis, HIV/AIDS, malabsorption, ulcerative colitis, radiation enteritis, gastrointestinal obstructions)
  • Enteral nutrition (for pediatric and adult patients who require supplemental or "sole source" nutritional therapy)
  • Chemotherapy (for patients with cancer, solid tumors, lymphomas, leukemias, rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn's disease)
  • Pain management (for patients with intractable pain due to terminal cancer, AIDS, end-stage COPD, rheumatoid arthritis or reflex sympathetic dystrophy)
  • Hydration (for patients with cancer, HIV/AIDS, hyperemesis gravidarum, fluid & electrolytes replacement, vomiting or diarrhea)
  • Inotropics (Dobutamine for stage-four chronic congestive heart failure)
  • Immune globulins (for patients with immune disorders, post-bone marrow transplant, acute infection, myeloma hematologic malignancies, myasthenia gravis, HIV/AIDS or COPD
  • Dobutamine (for patients with stage-four chronic congestive heart failure)
  • Prolastin (for patients with alpha, antitrypsin deficiency or emphysema)
  • Antiemetics
  • Neupogen/Epogen

  • Patient assessment
  • Initial and ongoing patient/family teaching
  • Patient care planning
